STARTUP STORY of DH foods
I went to university abroad and then stayed in Europe for 30 years. During my time studying and working there, I missed Vietnamese food and spices very much. Even though I was surrounded by “other” spices: every Polish kitchen has a spice cabinet with lots of herbs. Polish, German or Czech supermarkets are filled with thousands of local spices, as well as hundreds of Thai spices.
After more than 3 decades with 3 startups in Poland, I returned to Vietnam in 2010. Seeing Vietnam change, modernize, become more civilized... and the spices of my childhood have also changed: There are many products using artificial colors, preservatives and flavors. It is these "modern" additives that have lost the rustic, natural taste of the dishes that were associated with my childhood. During my business trips from North to South, I noticed an interesting thing: in Vietnam, every region has its own specialty spices with the characteristics of that land, stretching thousands of kilometers from Ha Giang to Ca Mau but they are not widely sold, mainly still small businesses.
That is what motivated me to start a business again with Dh Foods in 2012, when I turned 50 years old. The dream was to produce traditional Vietnamese spice products with the characteristics of each region, improve quality, modern, closed production processes on a large scale to increase productivity, and importantly - the products must be completely natural, without using synthetic colors or artificial preservatives to be safer for health for family meals.
Today, my dream has gradually come true, when Dh Foods has produced many spice products from the North - Central - South regions, supplying most supermarkets in Vietnam and exporting to many countries such as: Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Australia, USA, UK, Germany, ... I hope that one day, Dh Foods spices will contribute to the meals of every Vietnamese family and be present all over the world. I always believe that quality, convenient spices will make meals more delicious and people feel happier.
